Obituary:
William P. Beattie “Bill” of St. Croix Falls, WI died Thursday, June 1st at Sophie’s Manor in Centuria at the age of 83.

Bill was born January 19, 1929 in St. Croix Falls, WI, the second child of James and Myrtle Parks Beattie. He grew up and attended the local schools, graduating from High School with the class of 1947. Later he graduated from Hamline University in 1951 with a degree in health and physical education. He entered the Army in 1951 and served 10 months in Korea. Upon his discharge in 1953 he taught and coached high school athletics in both Minnesota and Michigan. In 1954 Bill married Marjorie Lowe of Northfield, MN. He then returned to the University of Iowa where he received another degree in physical therapy in 1955.

Two children were born to Bill and Marjorie, James and Julie. Bill spent the remainder of his working years in the field of physical therapy, first in Minnesota, then in Iowa, and the last 30 years in Tucson, AZ... In 1990 Marjorie passed away and later he married Bernice Lau Goberville of Eau Claire, WI. Bill retired in 1994 and he and Bernice spent months both in Tucson and St. Croix Falls. In 2005 they retired permanently in St. Croix Falls. Bill was active in the St. Croix Falls Historical Society and the St. Croix Falls Cemetery Association.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents James and Myrtle, his first wife Marjorie, his brother Robert and brother-in-law LaVerne Lowe. He is survived by wife Bernice, daughter Julie (Ted) Anderson of Tucson AZ, son James (Renee) of Blue Earth, MN, brother John (Orphy) of Scandia, MN, sister-in-law Clarice Beattie of Forest Lake, MN, step-daughter Joy Goberville of Detroit, MI, step-son Brad Goberville of Augusta, WI., grandsons Hunter Anderson, David & Nicholas Beattie, and Samuel Goberville.

Visitation:
Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Service:
Memorial Service 2 PM Friday, June 29th at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Osceola.

Cemetery:
Interment St. Croix Falls Cemetery.
